Nokia N97

English Guy is a committed Nokia customer. Apart from an unhappy 6-months on Sony Ericcson, I've always returned to the latest Nokia. Inexplicably our Benson seems to like the Motorolla. Why? WTF? What possesses the man?

Small, fits in his Golf trousers, shirt-pocket & fanny pack. Rumor it can even make/receive calls!

So let's talk about big boys gadgets! English Guy is currently running with the slimline Nokia 6500 Classic for day-to-day use and a Nokia N95-8Gb for mail-sync (using RoadSync) when on my travels. Shown L to R the Nokia 6500 Classic, Nokia N95-8Gb and ... tada ... the new Nokia N97. Want one. Want one now.

Here are some great vids on their new N97 smartphone. This could be the "iPhone-killer", certainly will have RIM Blackberry and Apple executives worried. Available probably end of fall in the US ballpark $700, mid-2009 in Europe. A good article at Internetnews.com says:

If Nokia's N97 smartphone arrives on U.S. shores it could claim fame as a spoiler in today's battle between Apple and Research in Motion (RIM) for the consumer smartphone user.
That's because the N97 not only offers features both iPhone 3G fans and BlackBerry consumer users enjoy -- a touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard and hefty video and music support -- but it expands on those capabilities with an "always on" browser window and advanced social networking and messaging services.
Calling it the "world's most advanced mobile computer," Nokia (NYSE: NOK) debuted its latest high-end device today at the annual Nokia World event in Barcelona, Spain. The 3G device retails for approximately $700 U.S. and will be available in Europe in mid-2009.
